Wrexham target Jonson Clarke-Harris' move to Charlton from Peterborough has reportedly gone quiet, handing a transfer boost to the Red Dragons.

Having already accepted Charlton's offer for the striker, Peterborough expected Clarke-Harris' move to the Addicks to go through fairly quickly. However, a shadow of doubt has been cast over the potential move after both the clubs' managers came out to talk about the deal not having gone through yet despite the clubs having reached an agreement.

Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson said: "It’s gone quiet. Charlton had a bid accepted a long time ago but the personal terms, they’re way off at the moment. Unless Appy tells me something different, I don’t think it will be happening.
“When the bid is accepted you would have thought it might have happened by now. There’s nothing like Jonno in the league. So, whether Charlton come again or not I don’t know, in terms of personal terms. It’s out of my hands, out of the club’s hands. It’s up to Jonno and Charlton now."
Charlton manager Michael Appleton responded to the comments: "What he said. That’s my understanding of it as well. Who knows [if the deal is dead]? I think the distance between both parties shows it’s probably nearer to not being alive than being alive.
"You’re always disappointed when a potential signing of that quality doesn’t happen, but you can’t keep hold of that disappointment too long. The reality is you’ve got to work with the players in the dressing room. The reality is there are other options out there and other players that we are working hard to try and bring in. If we can get one of those players then it will definitely help us and make us better."

Over the past three and a half seasons, Clarke-Harris has scored 75 league goals for the Posh and has been a key member of the team's engine. This season he has scored nine goals so far and been a major reason for Peterborough's high ranking in League One as they sit second in the league, hoping for a promotion to the Championship next season.

With both sides casting doubts over the potential move it could be the opportune moment for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to swoop in and sign the target man as Wrexham look to dial in two automatic promotions back-to-back and join Peterborough and Charlton in League One.
