United announced their plans to build a new 100,000-seater stadium on Tuesday, and given they expect it to take five years to construct, it may well headline a bid to host the 2035 Women's World Cup. Per , a UK bid for the tournament is now set to be the only one from Europe.

Germany were viewed as potential rivals but they instead want to host the 2029 Women's Euros. Only countries from UEFA and the Confederation of African Football can bid for 2035, and the UK are set to have the only bid from Europe, greatly increasing their chances of success.

The UK's bid will also see matches played in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland if they are successful. The new stadium United are aiming to build could be completed by the end of the 2030-31 season.

All expressions of interest must be submitted to FIFA by the end of March. Everton's new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium has also been name-checked as a ground likely to be used by the UK in their bid.
