Alan Nixon has provided an update on Peterborough United attacking midfielder Marcus Maddison’s situation.
What did he say?
The 26-year-old has been a transfer target for Charlton Athletic during the January transfer window, as previously reported by BBC Sport.
However, it has since been suggested by London News Online that the deal has currently been put on ice due to an inability for the club and player to agree terms. That comes after a fee had previously been agreed with Peterborough.
That report suggested that the deal could be revisited towards the end of the transfer window.
It’s the dawn of a new decade in the Premier League, but how much do you know about the last 10 years?
Alan Nixon has provided a further update on the situation on Twitter:
Uncertainty reigns supreme
There is plenty of uncertainty around the deal. There’s still a chance Charlton could go back in for him, but with another club could make an attempt to sign the creative midfielder, where he ends up is anyone’s guess. To add to that, you’ve also got the possibility that the player is holding on until the end of the season to move.
Lee Bowyer’s side is in need of recruits, however, especially after the departure of Conor Gallagher, so it would be imagined that they will want this situation sorted out as quickly as possible.
With Nixon suggesting that the deal was “quite good”, it seems as though the decision about whether a move will materialise this winter will be down to Maddison.
Whatever is happening, it is likely that Charlton will be keeping a close eye on proceedings.
Meanwhile, Charlton fans were left confused by a decision that could jeopardise their season.
