The former West Ham centre-back, James Collins, remains without a club having left the Hammers at the end of last season. The 6’2” 35-year-old may no longer be the player he once was, but the veteran remains capable of contributing at Premier League level. As an affordable, reliable and experienced squad rotation option, the former Wales international could be a smart target for Hughes to pursue and offer a short-term contract to.
