Grealish has endured a frustrating 2024-25 campaign with limited minutes under Pep Guardiola. Despite making 32 appearances across all competitions, the 29-year-old only started 16 games, with just seven of those coming in the Premier League. He only accumulated eight goal contributions and ended the season without a single league start in 2025. The former Aston Villa star was notably left out of the squad for the final league game against Fulham and overlooked in the FA Cup final, where teenager Claudio Echeverri was handed a debut instead.

Grealish has clapped back at a fan on Instagram who criticised his recent form following reports that he was left out of Manchester City’s 35-man squad for the upcoming Club World Cup. The fan claimed Grealish’s exclusion was justified, prompting the England international to respond sarcastically, highlighting his recent goal contributions.

Grealish directly addressed the fan’s criticism on Instagram, replying: “Haha I’ve been bad lately? Scored three goals in my last three appearances over 45 mins but okie dokie love x.” He added another comment, biting back at comments made by Gabriel Agbonlahor on talkSPORT, which read, “What u want me to do, score a hatty in 20?”
