David Miller’s rapid half-century capped off a clinical performance with the ball by Dolphins, as they bowled out Lions for 171, to set up a victory with more than 13 overs to spare in their first match of the Momentum One Day Cup in Potchefstroom. After losing the toss, Lions suffered an early setback when Quinton de Kock fell for a duck. Rebuilding proved difficult, with Lions four down and still searching for their fifty in the 20th over, courtesy seamers Robbie Frylinck and Calvin Savage. Jean Symes resisted, but his 80-ball 55 was the only notable contribution aside from Devon Conway, who paired with Symes to put on 75 runs for the fifth wicket. Craig Alexander ensured the lower fared no better than the batsmen before them as he claimed three wickets – the third seamer to do so in the innings in addition to Frylinck and Savage.Half-centuries from Miller, who was adjudged the Player of the Match, and Vaughn van Jaarsveld overcame a dismal start by Doplhins. They were 3 for 2 before the duo added 85 runs to return the advantage. Miller remained unbeaten, his 76 off 68 balls featuring 10 fours and a six. Achieving the target in the 37th over earned Dolphins a bonus point.
