Chris Coleman announced at his press conference on Thursday that John O’Shea will miss this weekend’s clash with Reading, and Sunderland fans are reacting rather oddly.
It’s been a difficult season for Sunderland fans, and it’s only gone further downhill in recent months.
Not only have the Black Cats continued their awful home record, suffered hordes of injury problems, and spurned some golden opportunities to change their fate, they’ve had to watch Newcastle turn their season around and march towards the top half of the Premier League.
Another injury would usually sound like even more bad news, but it seems like fans are finally seeing a silver lining, as they celebrate the absence of John O’Shea this weekend.

The 36 year-old Irishman has been slow and ponderous all season, and just simply does not have the legs to compete at a high level anymore.
Coleman’s side travel to Reading on Saturday off the back of two draws that really could have been wins, and desperately need three points just for a fighting chance of survival.
If fan reactions are anything to go by, the injury to O’Shea will certainly help matters, and some of the best Twitter reactions can be found below…
